Take for example our client, a leading food storage and container system company who were moving into their new 47,000 sq\/ft approx. distribution facility. They needed a solution that would maximise the cube without impacting overall operations. After the initial appraisal and planning stage, we found that the ideal solution would be to utilise double-deep racking to achieve a higher pallet capacity than traditional racking would. Although a VNA (very narrow aisle) system would typically be advised for installation, in this scenario, SEC was able to advise the best outcome at the earliest stage, crafting a solution that left our client most happy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Space Optimisation: Challenge Your Space<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Of course, moving into an entirely new facility isn\u2019t always possible. Space can be found elsewhere, or even repurposed and rented to others within existing premises. Another client of ours, a leading sports equipment retailer who additionally specialises in the storage and distribution of high end, electronic sports goods had this exact need: to find additional space within the facility without having to expand their overall warehouse footprint. Following a significant feasibility study and design process, it was found that a multi-tier mezzanine floor<\/a> <\/span>picking structure could be built on the space restrictive area, without impacting the ground floor loading bay or nearby VNA operation. The introduction of a dynamic storage system provided a significant uplift in pick rate and therefore operational cost savings.<\/span><\/p>\n
